Scoped Environmental Impact Statement for New Cottage

Constance Bay (Ottawa), Ontario, 2015

Dr. McKinley prepared a Scoped Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to support a minor variance application for shore-side development.  The project was undertaken to support construction of a new cottage by a private owner. This study included an impact assessment and identification of mitigation measures related to stormwater management, as well as an evaluation of regulatory requirements to meet provincial and federal species at risk regulations.

Dr. McKinley’s Scoped Environmental Impact Statements include consultation with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (OMNRF), the City and Conservation Authority; a review of relevant planning documents, background studies and government databases; creation of records of correspondence and site photograph appendices; completion of figures showing the site layout and location of significant natural features; identification of vegetation, wildlife, and other natural heritage features observed; and identification of mitigation requirements to protect and enhance natural features and functions, wildlife, vegetation, and species at risk.
